The article studied on the role of the supply chain in the elimination and reduction of construction rework and defects by using “action research” approach at Ireland, United Kingdom. Some of data or events was gathered from year 2007 to year 2013. In general, the article was well written and arranged by the researchers. Each fact in different headers were adequately supported by numerous literature reviews on the subject related. The main purpose of the study was to improve productive processes in preventing and managing defect, especially for small/medium enterprise.
The study only focused at or near the end of construction project instead of covering the whole construction cycle for identifying the cause of rework and defect. The researchers could overlooked important findings and conclusions by only concentrating at certain construction stage as rework and defects could be happened at any phases.
The researchers used several methods for data gathering and conducting analysis. Amongst other was respondents were given a choice on whether to be involved in this research or not. By doing this, the researchers could not have adequate respondents. Furthermore the research was done at only one company which probably had a limited number of employees. This could lead misinterpretation of data gathered to represent the total employee population. The researcher also used semi-structured interview and informal conversation.
