Technology has evolved over the years in this country. One of the biggest and most popular technologies used each and every day is computers. Computers have shaped how we connect with one another, research information and rely on it for personal gratification.

Computers are used by virtually everyone in one way or another. We connect to social media sites such as Facebook to connect with friends, loved ones and long lost classmates. The thought of not being able to reconnect with someone from 25 years past is long gone. Computers make reunification all the more possible and easy. Corresponding with friends and family via USPS has virtually been replaced with emails.

We use this technology to research information for school work, a new car purchase and even to figure out what the rash on your baby’s arm could be. The computer is a very useful piece of technology that puts the world at your fingertips. Almost any question could be answered with a search engine.

Aside from the internet being a popular reason to use computers there are also personal reasons such as playing video games, typing documents on word processors, and storage of your favorite family photos. Our computers are a brain without a human body.

Seventy years ago before computers, people researched information in their local library using newspapers, encyclopedias and autobiographies. Rather than commenting on a family member’s wall, families had Sunday dinner, family reunions and community gatherings. We no longer need to rely on old school scrapbooks, hope chests full of newspaper articles or even photo albums because our computer stores all of it for us.
