Logistics is important and needed everywhere in today’s society. With the growth of advanced technologies, firms are becoming more integrated. Demand of integrated and operational supply chain practice with effective information systems are growing day by day as customers have become more and more demanding about logistics performance. Integration of logistic service depends on good information systems.

Discipline is always necessary. Information systems are an applied discipline that studies the developments of the creation, operation, and social contexts and consequences of systems that control information. The creation and operation of such systems require the sub-processes of systems analysis, design, development and management that are bracketed at the foundation by social context and at conclusion by social effects.

Logistics is the field of study to focus on the design and implementation of the well-organized flow and storage of goods from the point of origin to consumption. Information system is the field of study to deal with complications against the design, improvement, implementation, and application of information system. Logistics Information Systems is a new discipline that fuses Logistics and Information Systems.

The change in the economy from the industrial era to the information phase has thoughtful implications for the management of the modern enterprise. Supply chain management is somewhat a new discipline within the firm and originally distributed with the transportation and storage of goods, an advanced supply chain program coordinates actions across management functions. In supplement to transportation and distribution, other areas persuaded by logistics involve customer service and quality management, inventory management, location, strategic planning, procurement, and logistics information systems.
