Chapter 1: Greeks and Scythians. Pg. 1:

 Long before the scientist introduced the word “race” to describe people, how were people distinguished?

The most important feature that mattered to tell the difference between people a long time ago was where they lived, were their lands dam or dry, could they be seduce by the luxuries of civilized society, and many more. Also, what mattered the most was which tribe they came from or if they could be traced back to a specific ancestry.

Chapter 2: Romans, Celts, Gauls, and Germani. Pg. 29:

 Despite having lots of differences and engagements between the Greek and the Roman empires, and the other tribes, how were the German different?

The vast Roman Empire, which lasted about 500 yeas, set the fundamentals of many aspects such as linguistic, legal, architectural, and the political foundations of the west. These empires were a mixture of tribes and people from around the area, but The German were a different story. An opponent of Rome’s amenity and dissolution, Tacitus found that the rough Germani, with its harsh weather and unpleasant land, makes a perfect place for freedom and loving people. An ancient writing of Tacitus talks about the racial purity and manliness, but he didn’t speak about “race” as known in the modern sense. “ Foe myself, I agree with the views of those who think that the inhabitants of Germania have not been tainted by any intermarriage with other tribes, but have existed as a distinct and pure people, resembling only themselves. Consequently, they also all have the same physical appearance . . . fierce blue eyes, tawny hair, bodies that are big but strong only in attack”
