1897 Revolution

The Philippine Revolution (1896–1898), called the "Tagalog War". It was a conflict between the people of the Philippines and Spanish colonial authorities. The Philippine Revolution began in August 1896, upon the discovery of the anti-colonial secret organization Katipunan. The Katipunan, led by Andrés Bonifacio, was a secessionist movement and shadow government spread throughout much of the islands whose goal was independence from Spain through armed revolt.During Mass garhering in Caloocan , the leaders of Katipunan organized themselves into a revolutionarys government , the newly established government "Haring Bayang Katagalugan " declared a nationwide armed revolution.

Spanish-American War , On April 1898 there was a launched of naval blockade on Cuba by the United States , which was the first military action of the Spanish - American war . On May 1 , the United States Navy's Asiatic Squadron was lead by Gerorge Deway decisively defeated the Spanish navy in the Battle of Manila Bay. On May 19, Aguinaldo, unofficially allied with the United States, returned to the Philippines and resumed attacks against the Spaniards. On June 12 , Aguinaldo issued the Philippine Declaration of Independence, the First Philippine Republic was established.

The Spanish rule of the Philippines officially ended with the Treaty of Paris of 1898, which also ended the Spanish–American War. On Febuary 4 , 1899 , The Battle Of Manila ,fighting broke out between the Filipino and American forces, beginning the Philippine–American War . Aguinaldo immediately ordered peace and friend relation to America . June 1899 , First Philippine Republic Formally declared war against the United States .
