Gun control has been a major issue in the United States for many years, going back to the 1700s when the second Amendment was created. Many people have different opinions on the topic; some believe the gun laws in our country are fine the way they are, some feel they are too strict, and some feel they are not strict enough. There have also been many questions brought up on the issue, for example, is the media promoting gun violence on teenagers? Are things being shown on the television impacting gun violence in the country? Many of these are still being debated today. There have been numerous accounts that support these questions to be answered, yes. Guns are a deadly weapon, and should only be used for defensive purposes, yet we here many people, especially young, who are dying every day from them. Many of teen deaths have occurred from gun violence. With a good portion from kids under the age of 18. Which brings up the question, how are they getting their hands on them? Therefore, my research will prove the seriousness of violence on the public and how it just seems to become increasingly worse by the minute.

Perhaps the best question to sum up all of the uncertainty and questioning is, are the gun laws in our country strict enough to secure the safety of the American public? The answer is no. The gun laws in our country are not strict enough to secure the safety of the American public

because the background check system has loopholes, the age to buy a gun is too low, and the gun laws are different in every state.

The background check system has loopholes from its chronic difficulty to keep the system clean. It has occurred many times that the person who had possession of the gun in fact did not own it. How did they get their hands on it then? The background check system is supposed to answer this question and make it a lot more difficult for one to have possession of a gun....
