a. What kind of strategy does your company follow?

Resource-based? Does it have a mixture of strategies?
CRISIL Ltd. follows the following strategies:
1. Operational Excelllence: CRISIL has diversified its operations all over
India. It has offices in every tier-I city in India, with its headquarters being
in the financial capital of India. Moreover it has offices in most of the tierII cities as well.
2. Customer Intimacy: CRISIL’s customers range from large corporates to
small and medium scale enterprises. It has managed to retain its
customers through its excellent services and a good reputation.
Moreover it has excellent post sale services. These factors have
contributed to CRISIL being India’s largest credit rating organization.
b. Briefly describe your firm’s strategy
CRISIL Ltd. has adopted the following strategies:
1. Focus on Developing a Market Niche: CRISIL is a pioneer of the
concept of credit ratings in India. Apart from rating corporate bonds,
debentures and shares CRISIL also got into the concept of Small,
Medium Enterprise (SME) Ratings. Hence it had entered into a niche
market segment.
2. Cost Leadership: CRISIL has managed to capture majority of the market
share due to its competitive pricing. The cost for SME Ratings is usually
very high. But CRISIL has tied up with the Indian Government wherein
the Government provides subsidiary to the SMEs for the rating costs.
This has worked in favor of CRISIL to become the market leader.
3. Differentiated Products and Services: CRISIL provides Infrastructure
Advisory Services. It provides development solutions in areas of:
