National Situation of the Filipino Youth: A reaction paper

If you go out and ask random people what is activism, they would probably relate the term with rallies and protests, and people who have nothing to do but complain and oppose the government. At the end of the day, I ask myself what is activism? What does activism mean to me? Activism to me is about giving a care about our society. Activism is all about standing up for what is right and what we believe in. It is about being able to be strong for what you believe in no matter how many obstacles you face or no matter how many people oppose your advocacy. Activism is change. It is about awareness. The greatest tragedy is to be conscious of none.

If we all just settle for an environment that instills the elite’s welfare over the less fortunate, if we just keep our mouths shut about all those hostile killings, then what is the point of living? What is the point of living a life, if we don’t live it for a purpose? People are so accustomed to keeping their mouths shut, what they don’t realize is that doing nothing is just as bad as injustice. Indifference doesn’t bring us any good, it just makes the whole world blind. If being an activist means, being conscious for our rights, if being an activist means speaking up even when the rest of the world is scared, then therefore I consider myself as an activist. Personally, I just hate it when people put up with things that they think they can’t change like crimes, corruption, and poverty. I hate it when people give up on their selves and just wait for life to get better. What is the purpose of our eyes, our mouths, and our minds? We use our eyes to see the world, to see just how much we have been suffering. We use our mouth to speak up and shout to the world that we have a right and we can’t just be pushed around like idiots.
