U.S. intervention in other countries is justified by the need to promote democracy around
the world but in reality, its foreign policy and behavior is motivated by the attempt to maximize
U.S. power worldwide. Democracy and freedom are defined differently amongst the U.S and
other countries. All the countries in which American forces are being imposed are rejecting
freedom as they do not agree with the terms that come along with it. The incidences with the
Philippines and Manila are just two of the many others that had to experience the intervention of
American forces while also rejecting American “democracy”. The real reason behind the U.S
intervention is for economic reasons such as the need for petroleum, weapons and power. The
United States is involved in wars with countries that are not even a real threat as they do not have
have the military the US has nor the weapons the US owns. The money to support all these
unnecessary interventions that also cause the death of many American citizens, is coming from
the citizens` pockets when not everyone has the chance to speak out against the wars.
“Spreading democracy” around the world is far from being the reason for getting involved in
other countries; instead, the US government has bigger interests such as petroleum and other
natural resources that happen to be located in the countries they say they long to see democratic.
The US should first be able to serve as a good democratic country before trying to spread

democracy and as we can see through all the national issues going on, it is far from being a good
example of a democratic country.
Similarly, in 1898, the US experienced its first intervention on a war between two other countries
for the sake of the rights of people. The US intervened in a 30 year war between Cuba and Spain ...
