General Motors is one of the world's leading manufacturers of cars and trucks; its domestic models include Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC. The company has a huge international presence, selling vehicles in major countries across the world. It has more than 212,000 employees working in 396 facilities across six continents. The government took ownership of much of GM in the aftermath of the nation's financial crisis of 2008 and 2009, although private entities and individuals have increasingly purchased GM stock since then. The government currently maintains a stake in the company, though its holdings now total less than 20 percent. The General Motors Milford Proving Ground was the industry's first dedicated testing facility when it opened in 1924. It is located in and covers 4,000 acres. 4,800 staff work in its 107 buildings today. The proving ground includes the equivalent of 132 mi of roads representative of conditions found on public roadways and other specialty surfaces for vehicle testing. Some roads are open only to drivers who have passed special performance driving training. The saying goes that each mile driven on the grounds is the same as 5 miles in the real world. The Corrosion Department has the Grit Trough, Power Valley Roads, Salt Mist Facilities and Corrosion Chambers. The Corrosion Department is charge to oversee if the new production vehicles comply to the 10 year no perforated corrosion policy that comes with all new vehicles. This is tested by putting the vehicles in accelerated tests to see how long it would take to observe perforated corrosion.

I was assigned with seven different projects to complete in 12 weeks from May 19th-August 8th. My main project was to conduct a study on the Corrosion Analysis of Aluminum to Steel Spot-welded panels.
