Problem/Solution Research topic question: What can American people as a whole do to protect the black youth against police brutality?

I. Thesis: In order for America to put an end to the battle between black youth and police brutality, states should improve their police training, bonds should be built between youth and law enforcement authorities and laws that have been set in place need to remain firm and equality should be exercised.

II. Approach to the subject of my paper:

1) States should be required to ensure that graduates of the police academy can not only do their jobs but handle the force.

* Police need to be put in tougher situations because so many cases where innocent lives are taken, police say that they didn’t know how to handle the situation or there react out of fear.

* Officers should never act out of fear because these are the reasons why we end up with cases such as, Trayvon Martin, and Michael Brown.

* With the police academy having such an easy system to pass, America could very well be handing out badges to racist individuals or even the children of previous Ku Klux Klan members.

2) Police officers some volunteer their time to show the black youth that they care and that black lives also matter to them.

* Schools should have mandatory courses on how to interact with law enforcement and learn the do’s and don’ts for all types of situations

* Verbal abusive from police officers to youth should be illegal no matter the situation.

* Operation conversation, which is a one-on-one session between police officers and black youth should be a world-wide organization to get to the root of the problem.

* Police should be required to mentor a certain amount of youth to help build relationships and trust.

3) Laws that are created and have been passed should stand for all, not just individuals without badges.
