Doctors Have a Difficult Time with Hmong Cause of the Values that they hold

Introduction

Human beings, the cleverest creature on the planet has lived for centuries trying to improve their lives every day. Living a healthy and a comfortable life are their primary objectives. Because of the changing climate and nutrition, humans became prone to diseases and body discomfort leading to deterioration of their health. Therefore, people living on this planet have the responsibility to monitor their health. In correcting the body imbalance, humans came up with laboratory chemicals and herbs to treat and heal their health (Fadiman 18). However, some people believed in their cultural healing spirit challenging the medics to approach them. The power of cultural beliefs to treat human remained a mystery in the minds of doctors and scientists.

The human revolutions changed many things such as living standards, technology, and disease treatment. Nevertheless, some communities still cling to these old traditions and beliefs. Among the famous cultures that believe in their healing spirit is a Hmong community in the United States. The Hmong community became famous in the late nineteenth century when it rejected the government medical programs in their society. Medical doctors from various centers have contradicted with this Hmong value though the society has no space to change (Appiah 24). In this argumentative paper, I shall discuss the Hmong community healing spirit, the critics of the belief, the differences of Hmong’s Txiv neeb from a medical doctor, then conclude with a sound conclusion.
