History

The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, is one of the largest and oldest privately held coffee and tea retailer in the U.S. and owned specialty family-run coffee and tea companies in the world. Herbert B. Hyman, the "founding father "of specialty coffee in America, was found the concept for The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf stores during a trip that he took to Europe over thirty years ago.

After visiting so many outstanding coffee shops in Europe, he decided to bring the specialty coffeehouse idea to America. The first store of The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf was established by Herbert B. Hyman in year 1963 with a dedication to excellence and quality in Brentwood, California. He has helped mentor many of the leading coffee executives in the industry.

Today, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is one of the highest volume and highest profile stores, which has discovered the formula for a successful coffee and tea company. Besides that, it also has a strong presence and reputation for excellence as part of communities in Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, Brunei, Korea, Israel and continues to expand both domestically and internationally.
