(Water ways/ flood ways)

Reporter's Notebook

Analysis

* A child lives near the contaminated and stagnant water ways which they called danger zoned they go in the waterways to loot recyclable trashes to sell in junkshop because of the poverty in their lives, he has to support his siblings and his parents to have something to eat by scavenging. In surveys there are 60,000 informal settler families are living on the water ways in the metro manila.

* In the State of the Nation address of our present President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino he included the relocation of the family lives near the waterways which is in danger and high risk areas, he, our president directed the secretary of the interior and local government to immediately spearhead the transfer of those informal settler families.

* The problem in this case are the water ways that used to avoid and prevent flash floods in Metro Manila are now full trashes and wastes of the people who lives near by that causes the water ways to be contaminated and to be clogged. The second problem is the families that lives near the waterways are also near in danger and high risk specifically to their health because of the pollution and bacteria that they can have form the water.

Recommendation

* Thus, this families should relocate or transfer to the equitable and accessible home town and support them by giving a job for a living.

* And to the condition of the clogged water ways, that should have a program on cleaning and restoring the water ways. We can also include those families living nearby the water ways to help clean up all the wastes in the water ways as a job.
