Customising PowerPoint

There are two key areas you can customize in PowerPoint to enhance your productivity

o The Ribbon

o The Quick Access Toolbar

Follow the below steps to customize your PowerPoint workspace and enhance your slide

development productivity

I.

The Ribbon

The Ribbon contains all the commands related to managing presentations and working with

presentation content

Across the top are task-specific tabs (e.g. File, Home, Insert, Design, etc.). Some tabs only

appear when you create or select certain types of objects such as pictures, tables, charts

Each tab has an associated set of commands that are organized into logical groups

Some groups on the Ribbon have additional commands that are accessed by clicking the

dialog box launcher in the bottom right-hand corner of the group

You can minimize and expand the Ribbon by clicking on the upper right-hand corner of the

Ribbon tabs line

You can also add your own tab to the Ribbon

o Right-click anywhere on the Ribbon and select Customize the Ribbon

o In the lower right-hand side, select New Tab

o You can Rename the New Tab and the New Group by clicking on them and choosing

rename

o You can then add commands to your New Group from the left pane by clicking on a

command and then on the Add >> button

o To delete the New Tab, just click on it and click Remove

The Quick Access Toolbar

The Quick Access toolbar is located at the left end of the Title bar and, by default, displays

the Save, Undo and Redo buttons

You can change the location of the Quick Access toolbar to appear either above or below

the Ribbon and you can customize it with the commands that you use frequently

To add a command to the Quick Access toolbar:

On the Ribbon, click the appropriate tab to display the

command that you want to add

Right-click the command and select Add...
