The instrument used for data collection is a survey, which includes demographic questions. The employee survey let the employee’s show how they feel regarding their work experience with the company, and will help identify the main reason or cause of the decrease in morale. The survey concentrated on employee motivation. The survey also has demographic questions that show how long the employees have been in each division they work and identifies the position each employee hold. The survey was administered to 449 employees, except for the top management team. The survey will be taken voluntarily, and anonymously, and will be sent out along with their paychecks to ensure each employee receives it. According to the University of Phoenix (2011), “The questions that were created asked workers to express their view about working conditions, shift hours, quality of training, and level of compensation, fair treatment, internal company communications, and job security. A few demographics were also to be collected so that Debbie could separate responses by division. Her intent is to compute descriptive and frequency techniques and then further studies the data for possible correlations. A total of 78 responses have been received, which is about a 17.3% response rate” (para. 11). The rate was disappointing, but this lower percentage is common for a survey. It was not necessary to make additional efforts to encourage employees to participate in the survey because it would not help generate many more useable responses.
