Introduction
We all love shopping, Don't we? Advent of online shopping has
taken the nation by storm and its popularity is increasing every day.
Shopping online not only saves money but also the time and effort.
Heavy traffic for online shopping sites in India has induced the Major
online shopping portals to pour heavy investments towards grabbing
a major share of your pockets.
Shopping online or not we always verify the credibility, after sales
service and reputation of the vendors before purchasing the goods
or services from them. Lack of face to face interaction surely induces
doubts about the reliability and genuineness of the products
purchased online. Thus, we look out for customer reviews or getting
friend’s opinions about the dependability of the online shopping sites.
Customer reviews and experiences shared by people who have
purchased from the concerned website are our source of knowledge
before finally buying from the online shopping store. Customer
reviews can be found below the product description on the
respective websites or on third party customer review websites like
mouthshut.com and trustedreviews.com. We expect trustworthy and
unbiased reviews to aid our purchasing decisions but due to
inappropriate marketing practices adopted by many online shopping
portals, the genuineness of such reviews is indeed a matter of
concern.
We seek reviews written by other users that help us make the buying
decisions. But, when we checked we were shocked to find 300500
word reviews written which were overtly sugar coated and gave very
little information about the product’s actual performance. We
wondered if an average user would write such a lengthy review and
decided to conduct a survey. The survey results clearly proved that
