Michelangelo’s David was carved during the High Renaissance period, the sculpture stands 17 feet high and is carved out of marble. David appears to be standing in a relaxed position in the nude, barring his weight on one leg. His body posture is strong and muscular like an athlete, his facial expression is stern with a glare in his eye. David is looking towards the left as if he see Goliath in the distance, with a sling shot gently over his shoulder ready to use. David is also holding a rock in his hand ready to throw, this is a representation of the moments before his historical battle with Goliath.

Donatello’s sculpture of David was created in the Early Renaissance. It is made of bronze and reaches 158 cm of height. This sculpture is more realistic in body size of an average man than Michelangelo’s David. He is standing with his foot on Goliath’s head after killing him in a heroic battle, nude wearing nothing but boots and a hat and carrying a sword. David has a smile on his face, because he knows he won the fight that no one before him could.

Bernini’s David his stance is very tense, it is obvious he is in the battle against Goliath. The look on his face is clear he is in the battle of his life. This David is also standing on Goliath’s head feeling proud and victorious. This sculpture is made marble material, partially nude wearing a loin cloth, this fits with the Baroque time period holding a rock as if he’s ready to use it.

Three different artist during different time period’s, representing David in a remarkable way. Each artist displaying their interpretation of the battle between David and Goliath for everyone to view.
