In my current role there are certain challenges that are more present than others, and some that can shape the year for the better if answered correctly. Five challenges that I chose to focus on are:

• Project management – development, implementation, and success of programs

• Quality assurance

• On boarding

• Member service

• Staff development

These challenges are evident in my day-to-day activities and are a focus of mine yearly. These challenges are crucial to the my success as a Healthy Living Director. I am responsible for a large amount of revenue so I must understand what my weaknesses are and how to handle them and make them my strengths. Turning these challenges into questions will allow me to come up with answers.

• What does a successful program look like? What was done to develop, implement and sustain the program?

• How are programs audited for quality assurance?

• What is being done to make sure staff feel successful from their first day onward?

• How do the programs offered meet the needs of our members?

• What is being done to develop staff regularly so that they are successful in their roles?

It is January, that means there are hundreds of new members looking to make a positive change in their life. The two most important questions for me to answer at this time retain to them: What does a successful program look like? What was done to develop, implement, and sustain the program? Also, How do the programs offered meet the needs of our members? These are the most important questions to ask now because it is the start of a new year and it is important that we start the new year off right by offering successful programs and by meeting the needs of our members. Starting the year with a positive variance would allow for more leeway to try new things because there would be cushion from the achievement of the first few months.
