A leader is there to be an influence and guide to other individuals. They are supposed to provide vision, support accomplishments and redirect mistakes. I selected a compelling leader. This woman is an outstanding role model. She was the first African American news anchor. She has made her way into many different avenues of entertainment. She is an actress, philanthropist, publisher, producer and an international talk show host. With talk shows becoming increasingly exploitative, she pledged to keep her show free of tabloid gossip. She also co-founded a company that dedicated to producing cable and internet programming for women. She eventually went on to create her own network. This women guaranteed that her place in the media industry was the most powerful and wealthy in show business.

Leadership can be defined as a person’s ability to get others to willingly follow. This leader is known for utilizing a charismatic leadership style that draws people to her and keeps them captivated. The qualities I feel this leader possesses are: integrity, humility, dedication, assertiveness, emotional intelligence, relatability and inspirational.

Integrity is the combination of inward values and outward actions. Having integrity makes the leader a more trustworthy and approachable person. Leaders with humility realize that they are no better than the members of their team. A humble leader is open and willing to listen to new ideas even if they do not conform to the usual way of thinking. She is also a very dedicated leader. She devotes time and energy necessary to accomplish a goal at hand. She does whatever it takes to complete her vision. By setting an example she gives her followers the opportunities to achieve something great. Assertiveness is the ability to clearly state what she expects so that there will be no misunderstandings.
