Market for Organ Donation

Organ and tissue donation is the removal of the tissues of the human body from a person who has recently died, or from a living donor, for the purpose of transplanting. Organs and tissues are removed in procedures similar to surgery. People of all ages may be organ and tissue donors. This is the reason a became a organ and tissue donor, to save the life of someone else that is loved. The act of donating gives someone else the chance at a new life a healthier life. The chance to make a difference in the world that they might not have been able to do without the donation.

While there has been a 24.4 precent increase of donors in the past two years which brings the national registry closer to its 100 million donors goal the lack of donors makes still makes goal of saving lives difficult. This becomes difficult due to the lack of different ethnicities that are underrepresented in the registries as well as the lack of viable organ that become available at a given time. The scarcity of the organ that is available to those in need cause people to take other approaches to finding viable organs. Some of these methods include paying for organs on the black market, paying doctors to find organs as well stealing organs. While these measures are very drastic the lack of viable organs for some is looked at as more drastic than the measures taken to receive or find a viable organ. In order for this situation to improve or change we need to have more donor drives and have people realize that it is important to inform your loved ones of the choices you have made dealing with denotations. We also need to pass a law that if a person is on the donor registry their wish must be carried out in the event of their untimely death. In many cases a family can decide to Vito the person’s final wishes and that is not fair to the donor or the person set to receive the organ.
