“We never talk anymore: The problem with text messaging”

In the article “We never talk anymore: The problem with text messaging” written by Jeffrey Kluger. Kluger discusses how texting is becoming a serious issue. Which I agree because in the generation we are living in everyone has some type of device that allows you to communicate through texting so we barely come to see or hear the other person we are communicating with. Kluger discusses how texting is killing the old school phone calls because people do not want to communicate over the phone anymore. Kluger also talks about how people can control a conversation better through texting than talking on the phone. For example, when you are texting someone you can answer them whenever you want and you can decide how long the conversation will last or never reply to them. Moreover, Kluger also explains how texting takes the feeling out of a conversation. For instance, when someone sends a text message saying I’m sorry the other person does not see or hear the pain from it as if you were to hear the persons voice when they apologize over the phone.

In the article “Does Text Messaging Negatively Impact Student Academic Success?” written by Jacqui Murray discusses if texting contributes to the shortening students attention span or hurting their writing ability. Murray discusses how TV, music, busy daily schedules, and family life are the causes of a student’s short attention span. I do not totally agree with that because every single student is different, student’s attention spans differ depending on what the students what been accustomed to. Murray also talks about students writing abilities which she goes against that texting hurt their ability to write.
