INTRODUCTION

Every construction work conducted regardless of cost or size will involve the use of temporary structures, which is significant as a very important part in the construction of permanent structures. Temporary structure is defined as a structure used in the construction process permanent structures or temporary work to allow permanent structures to be constructed. A new approach in the process of construction of temporary structures such as ground support, access bridge, gantries and scaffolding, track work for cranes and trains and dewatering system is needed in the construction scenario in Malaysia which is rapidly developing. As we all know, temporary structures play an important role in the construction process. If we fail to apply it, bad consequences will occur such as an accident at the construction site.

The design process should also take into consideration economic factors. The latest technology will produce high quality temporary structure but it is definitely has a high cost to be applied. In addition, the economic connection with the type of system chosen must also be considered. The use of temporary structures that are not suitable with the work done will also increase the cost. The most important aspect to be considered by the designer is safety. This is because the evaluation will be done by a professional designer to get the approval to start the construction. Safety aspect to consider is a comprehensive which is including during installation work or the work of removing the structures involved.
