Many employees struggle to find a balance between work and personal life. Employers are trying to help in order to make it easier for employees to balance the two. Many people value being able to work fulltime, but still have time for their family. Today, many organizations are recognizing the benefits of offering employees family friendly work options.

If an employer accommodated employees with their interest and needs; companies would offer job flexibility. Job flexibility consists of flextime, job sharing, compressed workweek, and telecommuting. When employees have flexibility employers are less likely to experience extreme turnover.

Working women, either professional or low-wage workers have a difficult time finding the time to spend with their families. It would make sense for companies to ensure flexibility is in place, so employees do not have to choose between their families and how they make a living. A sheet worker taking time off to care for her sick child may not have a job when she returns. If job flexibility was in place she would not have to worry if her job would be available or not.

Low-wage workers usually do not have any say in their schedules. Everyone struggles with the balance of daily life, however, with no voice it is harder to request a flexible schedule. If companies would be able to see the benefits of allowing employees to have more flexibility and a competitive advantage.

There are many benefits to employees, employers as well as our economy. Employers see the benefits of improved productivity and job satisfaction. While employees can be dedicated workers and spend more time with their families.
