UNIT 8 Alternate Seminar Assignment

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the seminar this week as it has been very hectic at home this week. I appreciate that I am able to make up the assignment.

I found this week’s tutorial to be very fascinating. I’m self-taught on Power-Point so I knew there were features that I had not perfected or didn’t know about all together. This week definitely introduced me to some new tools. For example, I’m in charge of putting together a power point presentation for our monthly employee update meetings at work which includes information that needs to be cut from internet articles, excel worksheets, and Microsoft word documents and put together into a professional presentation on Power Point. Normally, the way I have done this is by using a screen shot of what I want to display and copy and pasting that onto the slide and cropping out the information I want to display. However, I had no idea how to insert a table into a slide out of Excel, which not only makes the slide look more professional but it’s also a lot less work.

I have always used pictures and animations in my presentations, however I did appreciate the detail that the tutorials this week gave in order to make this experience far easier and more professional. I particularly found the portion regarding customization of photos and putting them into the background as well as adjusting the transparency on the photograph very useful. This feature can allow you to change the whole look of a picture or even adjust clip art to look more professional depending on how you are utilizing it.

Another huge bonus for me this week was learning how to insert an online video. I wish I had watched this portion last week as we were trying to figure out how to do this in a presentation at one of our meetings last week....
