Sexuality and Development

In today’s world so many things have changed. There are many support groups that help people cope and deal with different types of issues. The Lesbian,Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender known as the LGBT community is a support group that allows people from the same sex to walk freely and have rights to be themselves. LGBT is celebrated all over the nation and has grown since the 90’s. The LGBT community has dealt with society's perception of their community and the impact of same-sex marriages.

The LGBT are now in every culture, occupation, religion, state, socioeconomic class, country, marital status, and race. Virtually any place you go now, you will find a men or women who are gay or lesbian. Before people who were gay, lesbian, or transgender were afraid to come out the close because the norm was to be married as man and women. Society did not accept people who wanted to be with each other from the same sex so they would hide their sexuality and pretend they were normal. The LGBT member’s self-identity is definitions of what category their labeled in. For example someone who confronts hetero sexism, homophobia, bi phobia, trans phobia, and heterosexual is labeled as Ally. Bi phobia means the fear of discrimination against, Bisexual means a person emotionally, physically, or sexually attracted to males /men and females/women. The most common one in today’s world is transgender who is a person who identifies psychologically as a gender/sex other than the one to which they were assigned at birth. The differences between being gay/lesbian and transgender is gay being with men, lesbian are females who like being with women, and transgender like being a women and dressing up like a women.
