Background

Blue Coral Copter is a privately owned island sightseeing company, operating in the highlands of Hawaii Island. The company ferry tourists on the Island using ten single turbine engines. The helicopters are four passengers together with the pilot. The small capacity of the helicopters has been considered very reliable and efficient for conducting tour operations. The helicopters operate under visual flight rule, with only one pilot flying the helicopter, there are also no formalities associated with the flying of the helicopters.

The company has ten full-time pilots, and another five part-time pilots and five office staff and the owner, Nick Doobie. The owner of the helicopters is the CEO of the company who operate all the management issues of the company including the safety measure to taken.

Maintenance of the helicopters is done by a special category of helicopter mechanic called “Copter Doctors Inc” that is a certified repair center. The company was started by Nick after making a lot of money in through surfing and decided to venture in air surfing. He went for helicopter training and decided to start his tour business. The company operates Island sightseeing and offer special tours that last from one hour to more hours.

The profile of the company shows that the pilots are well trained, and their experience ranges from military, aviators and retired pilots, including former dancer trained by Nick. Because of the difference training background the pilots fly the plane using their unique style. This has helped to have many customers who love the special packages of travel from the different pilots.
