SUCCESS

What is Success? According to Merriam-Webster, “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect or fame.” Success is the achievement of intention or the achievement of something planned or attempted or the favorable outcome of something attempted (Thaxton, 2013). On the other hand, Dictionary.com defines it as ‘the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavours; the accomplishment of one’s goals.” For me, success is the achievement of desired goals thru different ways.

Success can be achieved by possessing good and positive qualities namely: Positive thinking, Hard work and Honesty. Positive thinking is a manifestation of having a positive attitude that can help you achieve goals and attain success. “If you look at the bright side of life, your whole life becomes filled with light. This light affects not only you and the way you look at the world, but it also affects your whole environment and the people around you” (Sasson, n.d.). Different possibilities may happen when we experience positive emotions, like joy, contentment and love, and one of these possibilities is achieving success. Hard work is one which always wins out to succeed. “Successful people come into work a little earlier, stay a little later, and know how to put in the extra effort to do a fantastic job” (Bersin, 2014). If we have the intense desire to struggle and achieve success, we need to work hard for it. “Nothing in this world comes easily, least of all, success. Abraham Lincoln who worked hard, without ever getting disappointed of his countless failures, from the age of 21 till the age of 53, when he went onto become the President of the US. It took Noah Webster 36 years to compile his Webster’s Dictionary” (Life it up, n.d.). There’s no shortcut to success, but to have the quality of hard work.
