Journal Entry 1

My goal this week was to find employment for this summer. I can say that this was successful because my job I work every summer offered me the opportunity to come back. I umpire Little League Baseball & make pretty good money doing it. The only downfall is that this job is seasonal meaning at the end of the summer I will be looking for new employment in August. I can honestly say I enjoy umpiring.

The factors that led to me accomplishing this goal are my attitude, my skills, & my reliability. Every summer when I umpire I prepare myself mentally before each game, to have fun & be fair to each team. I am able to work consistent 12 hour shifts on the weekends which makes me very convenient. Also, I keep good healthy relationships with all my co-workers & coaches within the league.

My goal was SMART because I told myself that I specifically need find employment in which I can save $600 monthly. I know it is achievable because I do it every summer. I think 3 months of saving $600 is reasonable for someone my age at 23. In a timely amount of time I hope to have saved enough to have my own house.

We discussed planning & time management in class & I believe planning my weeks around work will help me focus on accomplishing my goal of saving money & getting my own place. Knowing I have a job for the summer will help me adapt to next week by developing a new goal for the semester knowing I have a summer job.
