There are many different challenges in life that can negatively infect a person’s life. The one issue that I believe is affecting more and more people is seeking employment while having a criminal record. A person with a criminal record while have a hard time finding a job rather than a person without a criminal record. Individuals with a criminal record have it hard because there are laws in place that prohibit an individual with a criminal record from working around children or fire arms. For example my mother has a college degree and have taken other college class and has gotten her life together because of her past. And because she has a criminal record that consist of a host of felonies and misdemeanors, and because of her past criminal record it’s very hard for her to get a job or for anyone to consider her application. In the result of that she can’t work in the field she went to school for because employers frown upon people with a criminal record. And the result of having a past she has to work at Walmart. Now there are laws that could protect my mother and others with a criminal record for getting looked at and judge because of their mistakes.

There is state laws in California that protects criminals in different ways when looking for employment. When a person is seeking employment the employer can’t ask about arrest that lead up to the individual going to jail. Also the employer can’t go into to the arrest record of the person looking for a job and use the arrest records against them. California is also restricted from asking about any crimes that have been expunged off of their criminal record. But at the same time the employer could ask job related questions related to the crime they have committed.
