Persuasive Speech Outline

Topic: Atlanta Pet Rescue and Adoption

Specific Purpose: To persuade our audience to adopt our animals, and give time and donations to Atlanta Pet Rescue and Adoption.

I. Attention: Saving Grace: Proving second chances are possible by Nicole Bopp.

A. Grace’s story: Grace is a dog that was rescued by a local Atlanta Police Officer on the side of a busy road.

1. You could literally see every bone in Grace’s body. APRA was able to rescue Grace with one day’s time left to save her from dying.

2. With kind eyes, a wagging tail, and a sweet temperament, Grace was saved thanks to the amazing medical care and urgency provided by APRA.

B. Where Grace is today and how you can help: Grace still only weighs 28 lbs. but is gaining weight and strength every day in a foster home where she is getting the love and attention she needs.

1. She never asked to be abused or neglected; she only ever wanted the most basic of necessities to sustain life. Luckily, APRA was there to not only save her life, but to someday match her with the loving forever home she always deserved.

II. Atlanta Pet Rescue and Adoption’s Mission and Vision by Evgeniya Antunovic

A. Atlanta Pet Rescue and Adoption is a licensed nonprofit “no-kill” animal shelter located in Atlanta, Georgia.

1. APRA rescues unwanted or mistreated animals so they can get a second chance to find new loving home.

2. APRA provides the medical care and enrichment/training to make its animals adoptable pets.

3. APRA educates people about proper pet ownership. It offers counseling, presentations and seminars, and distribution of educational materials.
