Traits and Evolution

The question was asked “What are some things that could account for geographical variation in traits from an evolutionary perspective?” So I started researching and trying to find different things that I could talk about and it opened up a whole new world of science to me. Why are polar bears white where as grizzly bears brown and black. Over time creatures of the world have evolved. Mainly for survival the bear is thought to be different colors to bend in to their environments. This helps with both hunting and safety of the bear. When the subject of evolution is brought up, one name comes to mind, Darwin. Darwin’s theory of evolution is that all things are related and have been produced from a common ancestor. So a complex creature, such as a human, slowly evolved over time from the single-celled simple creatures, like archaea.

Darwin’s theory goes off the basis that we are always evolving and becoming able to inhabit the earth better over time. We are training our genes to produce stronger and faster

versions of ourselves. So if you took two animals of the same species, place them in two different parts of the world over time, changes being made would become evident. For example, you take two wolves, one would live in a colder snow covered region while the other in a dense forest in a warmer climate. This first wolf living in the cold, snowy region, over time after evolving, the wolf would begin to have thicker fur and pads on the bottom of their paws so that they would be able to withstand the harsh cold winters. Where the wolfs in the warmer climates would have thinner fur to keep them cool and due to the denseness of the forest that they lived in over time they would become a smaller framed wolf to be able to hunt and get around in the forest with more ease. Despite the difference in locations both wolves would have traits that would also evolve similarly. Both wolves would become faster and stronger. It would also depend on what...
