If we think about any activities around us like running a MBA program, registering students or services at cafeteria they are all part of operation management. In each activity, there are one principle objective or multiple principle objective. We have to manage the whole activity properly in order to achieve the principle objectives. If we don’t manage effectively we won’t achieve the desired output or outcome.
Slide 1: Learning objectives
1. We talk about the definition of operation management.
2. We need to understand the difference between goods and service because the implication of how we actually manage the processes in the operations that would create the product and services are different.
3. We need to understand the difference between production and productivity. Production is the process of produce the products and services. And productivity is how to use resources into that goods and services.

Production is the creation of goods and services. For examples making the cakes or detailing a car
Operation management is all the actions that take place to make sure the goods and services to be created. Inputs are transformed to be output. This is the operation management.
There are 3 core function in the organization marketing, production operation, financial and accounting. And the HR is the function in the Operation management.

He talked about the organizational charts in the commercial bank. For example, inputs like operations, teller, scheduling......) are transformed (Finance, investment, real estate....) to outputs (Loans, Trust department.)
