Introduction

* Attention Getter: He has been called the patriarch of weather forecasting in Jacksonville, but most know him as the Gardening Weatherman.

* Specific Purpose: George, provided accurate weather forecasting for more than 45 years @ WJXT-channel 4 studio.

* Credibility: George was most famously known for accurately predicting the weather forecast, and he soon gained fame as the only local weathercaster to accurately predict hurricane Dora coming ashore near Jacksonville in 1964. It was the first hurricane since 1898 to make landfall along the First Coast.

* George was born September 9th, 1931, in Pine Beach New Jersey.

*He is married to (Mrs. Virginia) and they have 3 children together.

* George relocated with his parents to Jacksonville, Florida at 10 years of age. He attended local schools just before joining the United States Air Force in 1949.

II. Education

* George graduated high school from Robert E. Lee in 1947.

* After discovering that cadet training required 2 years of college he chose meteorologist and was sent to Weather Observers School at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois.

* After leaving the Air Force in 1954 George attended Jacksonville Junior College now (Jacksonville University) later transferred to Florida State College earning his meteorology degree in 1957. Became a certified consulting Meteorologist in 1989 after passing the (AMS) exam.

III. Career

* Joined the United States Air Force in 1949.
