Research Proposal: Are There Disparities between Urban and Rural Health Care?
1. Research Question and Hypothesis
The research question and hypothesis for the study are as follows:
RQ1: Is there a statistically significant disparity in care quality between urban and rural health care?
H10: There is not a statistically significant disparity in care quality between urban and rural health care.
H1A: There is a statistically significant disparity in care quality between urban and rural health care.
2. Target Sample
The participants will be Americans over 18 who have visited a physician’s office at least once in the eight weeks prior to survey administration. Based on standard suggestions (Cohen, 2013) for effect size and Alpha error probability, 6 specified covariates, and 2 groups, the recommended sample size for the study was 400:

3. Sampling Method
Random sampling will be used for the study, as this method is most likely to ensure that observed differences between due groups are due to the factor or factors of interest to the researcher (Creswell, 2009). Participants will be recruited by means of a recruitment effort administered by Facebook. There will be no participant compensation.
4. Participant Compensation
Participants will not be compensated for participation in the study.
5. Assigning Participants to Conditions
Not applicable.
6. Test Instrument
The instrument for the study will be the Patient Satisfaction Index (Raposo, Alves, & Duarte, 2009).
7. Research Design
The research design is quantitative and causal-comparative. An analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) will be used to measure the test the null hypothesis above.
8. Study Variables and 9. Operational Definitions
The independent variable for...
