The King apparently deeply regretted ordering knights to kill his close friend and blamed it on his furious temper.
Some agreed with the King, others didn’t but everyone agrees that it was a cruel and tragic death.
Edward Grim paid tribute to Becket and cried
“Thomas didn’t deserve to die and he was a righteous and good-hearted man. It’s a sad loss for everyone.”
It is said that monks are preparing his grave.

Last night, Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury, was killed inside The Canterbury Cathedral. It was believed that he was killed by four knights, ordered by His Majesty, the King.
Eye-witness, Edward Grim, a monk from Cambridge described the four knights as “wicked and cruel.”
It has been told that the King was furious with Becket because he refused to help him to control the Church of England. It was said that King Henry only Chose Thomas as the Archbishop of Canterbury to gain greater power over the Church. This then lead to Becket fleeing to France, due to his own safety. In one of his many rages, the King ordered four knights to find Becket and kill him, which they did willingly.
According to an eye-witness, they placed their weapons under a sycamore tree outside the Canterbury Cathedral and hid their mail armour under their cloaks before entering to challenge Becket. Becket was informed by the four knights that he was to go to Winchester
