Week 4 Summary for Learning Team B

This week Learning Team B, whose members are Debra Bevill, Whitney Clay, Aaron Gonzalez, Lisa Gonzalez, and Maricela Perales, met by group chat to discuss the major project for this Course, which is due Week Five. All members listed above actively participated in the discussions. To develop further the learning team’s project, and to finalize this submission, the team had three discussions. The business topic ultimately determined, by the Learning Team (“LT”), as appropriate for the QNT 275 Business Decision-Making Project and approved by the instructor is guided by the following research question: “What role does the number of occupied apartments play in the workload of the maintenance staff of an apartment complex?”

Data Source and Description

To answer the LT’s research inquiry, the data from The Trails at Wolf Pen Creek’s annual occupancy reports and service order records was collected. This data is quantitative in which it contains the number of occupied apartments for the past three years in comparison to the number of service orders that were requested by residents for those years. The data is being measured on the ordinal level in order to properly show the effect that the number of occupied apartments has on the workload of the maintenance staff at The Trails of Wolf Pen Creek.

Data Analysis

The LT anticipates the data gathered may analyzed by comparing the data indicating occupancy levels and the data indicating the amount of service calls to the maintenance department separately. Once the separate variables are analyzed, the team will determine whether the need for maintenance workers is independent or dependent.
