The organization I will discuss is the Human Resources (HR) department of a strategy and management consulting firm. The goal for the final quarter of the year for department is to recruit entry level trainees. The company requires no more than 15 trainees at the end of the training period. Based on recruitment trend in the company, only 75% of the candidates recruited make it through the training program. Members of the HR department agreed to hire a total of 20 candidates. To be safe, they should interview about 30 candidates. The HR department consists of 4 people; the HR manager, recruitment specialist, HR assistant I and HR assistant II.

This mandate is to be achieved within 3 weeks. The training is set to start at the beginning of the next month and it is already the end of the 1st week of the current month. The company uses the outdated method of recruiting where applications are made in person or resumes are sent via email. This means the resumes will have to be sorted through manually based on selected criteria. The recruitment process will include;

• Creating a job description

• Posting the job opening on the career page of the company website

• Sorting resumes for eligible candidates

• Interviewing and assessment

• Employment

The department had previously made a proposal to the management for an HR management solution which streamlines HR businesses and processes. For this particular project, it will be useful for sourcing candidates and automatically sorting through resumes. Once the job posting was made, the HR department received over 200 resumes on the first day. The department staff was excited because this meant that they would meet their deadline. On the other hand, the problem was that it would have been difficult sort through over 200 resumes to get the best candidates and be able to meet the deadline. The candidates will need to be contacted and be given at least 2 days notice before their interviews.
