Ethics within an Organization
Integrity is only a small part of acting ethical in situations. I never paid attention to the word integrity until I became a manager and worked for TJX Incorporations. Integrity is a word I learned when I received my first performance appraisal. My manager told me I acted with integrity with all that I did. I felt flattered and also a little curious. From then on, I prided myself on always acting with integrity and I felt inspired to do what was right in every situation.
Working in a customer service job can be very difficult. If one has to ask why, it would mean that he or she has never had an irate customer calling ripping your head off because one was following store policy. Years later, I can sympathize and try my hardest even when someone is being rude to me to do the right thing and to turn the other cheek and try to show someone as much respect as possible. I can’t say I have always made the right decisions in every situation. In the beginning of my career, it was very hard to take the constant abuse and to avoid taking things personal. As I matured, I realized that if I were in this person’s situation, I’d be upset with this company too! As I sat down and thought about my personal values and took the self assessment, I realized many things about my character and how my values coralline with Kudler Fine Foods and its owner.
Working as a manager over the last ten years has made me realize who I am and what I stand for with regard to ethics. I respect all individuals and I try my hardest to support and train new employees and make them see what potential they to offer at work.
