HIPAA TUTORIAL SUMMARY

Health care is an area and which the HIPAA rights will be involved. According to the tutorial the HIPAA stands for “the ability to protect the privacy of individual’s health information”. The rights were passed by congress in August 2002. I enjoyed hearing the tutorial it was very informative. There where a number of things that was covered. Among them that stood out were medical electronic records. Medical electronic records are a system set in place to keep up with all patients’ health information private. That’s so imperative in this day and time. Able to access a patient’s information without it being compromised. Keeping the integrity and confidentiality of a person. Knowing you have protection set in place to protect you from being violated. A lot of times people feel like they have no voice. HIPAA rights provide you with a rights and a voice. Availability to authorize the proper people to access your medical information. The rights also have lot of layers to it, one being the protection from the computer system. The system can pick up on a virus right away. The system than will block suspicious traffic from getting in. So much as happen through out the years with people’s identity and information being used. I can put what I learned from the tutorial and my day to day live. With everything being so electronic basic, you need to know policies and procedures for future health care patient’s information protection.
