Since there’s need of a robust, corporation-wide plan in dealing with Toyota Motor Corporation situation, I highly recommend the problem-solution method of managing crisis.

Toyota should therefore employ the past/present/future model to deal with unforeseen events that may cause serious or irreparable damage. It is indeed true that plan and implementation of such a model in managing crisis will ensure no damage in company’s reputation and brand.

The past:

To say that Toyota deceived controllers, Congress and general society about the sudden speeding up of its vehicles, is an absolute truth and a notable strength in reply. Even though Toyota maintained that they never misled regulators but properly responded to potential safety problems that unintended acceleration posed to their customers, they admitted to the err after a long period of time during which consumers weren’t happy. To claim it was floor mat problem, accelerator pedal and on and on, irresponsibly and tragically, Toyota lied. However, leaving out the lives lost and indicating the percentage profits lost is a weakness. I would take cognisant of fact that Toyota put lives of Americans at risk. Lives have been lost due to negligence and irresponsibility of the management team and the company’s assembly lines are completely unsafe (Toyota Drivers at Fault, 2015).

The efforts taken by Toyota to maintain balance in the advent of receiving unprecedented negative attention from mass media misplaced the company’s reputation and brand. By allowing the government through its agencies to conduct quality assessment of its products, Toyota welcomed harm to its future profitability, growth and survival. However, Toyota could redeem itself through staking full responsibility of the mistake and asking for public forgiveness (Toyota profits jump amid recovery from disasters, 2015).
