Is the company socially responsible? How do you know?

Chipotle has maintained its role in being ethically and socially responsible since it has opened. Their trademark is “Food with Integrity”. They pride themselves in providing customers with meat that contains no hormones or antibiotics. They also raise dairy cows without the use of synthetic hormones and use organic produce non genetically modified ingredients whenever possible. They claim that this way of conducting their business will never end.

What has the company done for the community?

Chipotle invests their funds for their products into local farms across the country which keeps family farms in business. They support organizations with having in-restaurant fundraisers for schools and other groups (k-12 schools, Youth Community Groups, University Groups, Community Gardens, and Food and Sustainable Agriculture Groups). The offer $2 burritos on Halloween every year and $1,000,000 of the proceeds are donated to The Chipotle Cultivate Foundation (Non profit organization). Lastly, every time 2 chipotle restaurants open, they employ a new naturally raised pig farmer into a cooperative named the Niman Ranch pork company. Chipotle also signed an agreement to improve wages and working conditions for tomato pickers in Florida.

Chipotle has a code of ethics on their website. If you click on investor relations in the top left corner of the web page and then click on Corporate Governance, it will take you to a PDF file of their code of ethics.

In your opinion, briefly state how the company views ethics?

I believe that the company views ethics very seriously. They take pride in the fact that they conduct their business with family farms, use organic produce, etc which has led to an innovative way of changing the restaurant industry that resulted in ever growing popularity.
