COURSE OVERVIEW
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a core understanding of the diverse activities of the various departments operating within an investment bank. The range of activities undertaken by an investment bank typically includes the following:
• Capital raising activities for clients in debt and equity markets worldwide
• Proprietary trading
• M&A Advisory
• Activist Strategic Investing
• Leveraged Buyouts
This course requires students to comprehend the terms and specific language used by investment bankers. The business of investment banking is about consummating deals on a profitable basis. Many of our upcoming classes will look at the specific functioning of the various departments listed above, by focusing on specific transactions. Certain activities such as Fund management and Equity Research are also conducted by investment banks, but are separate topics in their own right and would not be addressed in this course.
PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS
Prior “Corporate Finance” and “Financial Statement Analysis” knowledge would come in handy during the course. This class does not have a...
