Which president has the greatest impact on the Civil Rights Movement?

Black people in America struggled hundreds years for fighting for their human rights. From 1940s to 1960s, there were several presidents that had made contribution to the black society. However, which president has the greatest influence on the Civil Rights Movement was controversial. According to my research, Lydon.B.Johnson was considered to be the most influential presidents compared to the other two presidents which are Eisenhower and Kennedy.

First, Eisenhower indeed had some important decision about pass the Brown v. Board of Education which led the desegregation among all America. However, some of the states especially some southern ones used various kinds of excuses to keep segregation in school. And those state government at that time refuse to implement the law. On the other hand, this establishment of the law was a tremendous progress in impelling Civil Rights Movement.

Second, President Kennedy’s effort for pursuing the Civil Rights Movement was to enforce the senator to help the black student enrolled in a white students university and promised his support for civil rights to Coretta Scott King, and made national addresses calling for equality for blacks.

Nevertheless, Lydon Johnson’s greatest impact was putting his presidential signature on Civil Rights Act in 1964 and Voting Rights Act in 1965. During the Great Depression, he worked as Roosevelt’s New Deal Agency that help to reduce the unemployment of black people. As he became the congressman, he chose a Mexican to be his assist to show his “appreciation.” Some people might thought it was a political publicity stunt. Thus, this behavior definitely helped Johnson won the vote of minority of black, Mexican and Spanish while it helped the black gained their human rights for living.
