I have been in situations where I had knowledge or truth about someone when the individual was unaware of my findings. At times, I decided it was not worth mentioning it to the individual or the overseer because I was not vested in that person’s success or development, and felt that at some point the truth will come to light. However, this was years ago, so I may handle things a bit different due to my growth and experiences.

If I was in a situation where I noticed that a student’s material was plagiarized in his/her use of materials for a presentation, I most like would confront my peer. I think being in a setting where we are all trying to grow academically, it is our duty to praise our peers when they are doing something well and to critique them when needed. A person who receives the information about what I noticed should take my feedback as me ultimately caring about them, not wanting them to fail, and looking out for their best interest. I never want anyone to get offended by what I say, so I would relay it in a way that my peer would be forced to make the right decision either now or in the future. Most people are not spiritually grounded, so I would not feel that need to quote Biblical scriptures because most people will think you are talking down on them or think you are better than them. My approach is very gentle, but honest and strait forward and I have to say that is what tends to work in my past experiences.
