Biography of the Author

Gregorio Brillantes was born in Camiling, Tarlac, in 1932, and was educated at the Ateneo de Manila.He was executive editor of the Philippines Free Press and editor-in-chief ofAsia-Philippines Leader, and since 1972 has been an editor and writer for various other publications, including Veritas newsmagazine, National Midweek and Philippine Graphic, of which he was editorial director and literary editor.A Palanca Hall of Fame prize winner, he has received the Southeast Asia Write Award, the Gawad para sa Sining from theCultural Center of the Philippines, the Gawad Alagad ni Bonifacio from the Writers Union of the Philippines, the Catholic Mass Media and other awards.Formerly writer-in-residence at the East-West Center in Hawaii and a Djerassi Foundation fellow, he has three books of fiction to his name: The Distance to Andromeda and Other Stories; The Apollo Centennial; and On a Clear Day in November Shortly Before the Millennium: Stories of a Quarter Century.

Summary

* Ben, together with Pepe is watching a scifi movie about the destruction of the planet earth. Ben went to the bridge and felt the fear and loneliness in his heart , he feels that he is a very tiny boy who is helpless, standing between the dark river and the lights in the sky.Ben’s family had a dinner wherein he felt the surrounding love of his family.After dinner, Ben follows his parents in the porch where he saw a shooting star.The shooting star made him realize that he must not feel lonely and scared. Because he is protected by the love of his family.

* Ben is a thirteen year old boy who wants to stay in the movie house although he had already watch one movie. His character portrays of wanting to stay a little longer and not wanting to leave.
