The Assessment Process

This paper will be discussing the three phases in the helping process. Including the significant of case review, report writing, documentation and the client participation during the process. I will also discuss how the strength-based approach is used in each phase of the helping process and also the ethical considerations that must be addressed during each phases

The helping process is a way for professionals to help those in need. During this process the human service worker gives their support to help the clients to reach and achieve their goals. The human service worker provides skills and tools to help the client grow more, and to become an effective member of society.

Assessing the client is an ongoing process that happens when dealing with clients. The human service worker does this to gain and understand the needs and strengths of the client and their families. When assessing the client the information gathered will help match the client with suitable services. During the assessment process the human service worker gets an idea of who the client is, during this time a professional/client relationship is formed, all required forms are filled out such as: insurance information, outlining the purpose and services of the agency, assurances of confidentiality, and obtaining information releases. After assessing the client next is the planning process, it helps to establish services. This is when individuals are accepted into the agency for services and they have met the eligibility criteria and is now a client of the agency. The planning process is when the human service worker and client focus on establishing a service delivery and service plan. During this process, the human service worker gives the client a clearer understanding of what services may be required or needed.
