Abstract

After reading this paper the reader will understand the author’s motivations behind continuing education and pursuing a Master’s degree. The paper will cover all thought processes involved in making the final decision that include; The author’s Jungian 16-type personality, Setting a good example for children, one hundred percent tuition reimbursement, and achieving a higher pay scale. At the end of the paper the reader will understand that this was not a subject taken lightly that included a lot of thinking and reflecting. In addition, this paper includes statistics to show how the author made the final decision to pursue the Master’s degree.

Decision to Pursue an MBA

Goals should be an important part of any decision making process. It is impossible to know where to go or how to get arrive there if some sort of map or plan is not in use. When the author took on this major decision of going back to school it was a meticulous process that included much thought with the specific goals in mind. The author used many tools, but the tool that provided the most help included taking the time to write down these goals and creating an outline of them. As Jimmy Dean said “I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination” (Dean, 2010). Using a thought process to arrive to this decision was a great way to adjust the sails to achieve the goals that were set.

The first tool used to make a decision to pursue an MBA was a fit for the author, was the Jungian 16 – Type Personality test. The author’s score was an ESFP. The analysis and interpretation of this score is: “You’re sociable, fun-loving, spontaneous, and very generous.
