My Dreams of being a Nurse

Since I was a little girl I’ve always been the kid that assisted to her toys as Dr. Waalee. I always loved going to the doctor for checkups or to see what caused me to be so ill. It would disappoint me to see the numerous amount of people in the hospital and I would always ask my mother why did they have to stay and could I help to make them better? From a very young age up until now I knew I wanted to be able to take care of people and help them to be as healthy as I am.

So for me to be able to want to pursue that dream I started as early as elementary. I knew I had to get exceptional grades and with being said I was a “A” student up until high school. I still had good grades of course but then that’s when opportunities started to become available. Starting in the tenth grade I took health science where I learned many different things about the body which was like a starting point for me. In the eleventh grade I took the medical terminology course which exposed me to the medical language that is commonly used in the medical facilities. The medical terminology class helped me for my upcoming senior year of taking A&P which was almost as complex as A&P now. (It wasn’t in the depth of the course now but pretty close to it) Also having the blessing to be able to have the experience of working in a hospital facility really motivated me to want to become a nurse. During the second semester of my senior year I applied to a job as a food service representative. My job was to go up to the floors and take patients lunch or dinner orders and take it back to them when it was ready. I’ve been acquired to go into isolated rooms and deliver their lunch or dinner. This exposed me to a whole different world. I’ve seen a lot of astonishing things from nurses treating patients cruelly to nurses that actually care. I’ve also taken care of patients myself due to the lack of responsibility of the nurse or patient care assistants.
