By the age of 65, the average woman would have lost $431,000 if
the woman worked every week of the average women's working life. Men
are able to get some jobs better than women and they get paid more.
Even today, Women still get treated poorly, they get beaten when they
don't do something the first time, right away, they get harassed, and
multiple women have stories to tell about how they got their rights taken
away.The good thing is that many things have changed, but we still need
to improve things too. Women should be treated equally and not less.
Women get paid less than men because they used to stay at home and
do all the work around the house instead of getting an education. It is
unfair for the men to treat women like they are nothing.
Men do get paid more than women but by very little, about 4% or less.
Even though women tend to choose "less paying" jobs if they do the
same job as men, they would normally do they still get paid less. On
average in the United States, white women earn roughly 77 cents to every
dollar a man makes ( women of color only earn 64 cents to the same
buck). Women are also far less likely to get promoted than men.
Women all around the world are still harassed, beaten, killed, and forced
to do things they don't want to do, at young ages too. Men do it out of
habit, force, entertainment, or because they still think that they are less.
Over centuries women (and sometimes men) protested to gain the right to
vote, get an education, and other things they didn't have or still don't
have. In the video, " Attack on women's rights in Afghanistan" on CNN
news, Fawzia Koofi says that the law that protects women from violence
is slowly going away but the reporter for CNN News, Christiane
Amanpour says that the U.S will try to protect all women's rights around
the world.
